Genetic analysis of biometric traits in Murrah buffaloes using Bayesian approach

نویسندگان

چکیده

The body conformation traits, which support higher production and longer productive life are very important to breed future dairy buffaloes. Bayesian multiple-trait analysis was performed in biometric traits of Murrah buffaloes estimate the (co)variance components using an animal model Gibbs sampling. included fixed effects parity, season calving, period age group at time recording traits. Random were additive genetic residual effects. Posterior means heritability distribution for length (BL), height wither (HW), rump width (RW), hip bone distance (HBD), slope (RS), brisket (BD), navel flap (NFL) average skin thickness (AST) 0.45, 0.56, 0.60, 0.48, 0.44, 0.53, respectively. Genetic correlation estimates ranged from -0.64 (RS NFL) 0.53 (HDB HW) -0.35 BL) 0.57 HW). Results current study indicated that all considered linear type have a lot variabilities, can be used selection improvement future.

Genetic parameters for stayability in Murrah buffaloes.

In order to contribute to the breeding programmes of Asian water buffalo, the aim of this study was to analyse the influence of genetic effects in the stayability of Murrah dairy buffaloes. The stayability trait (ST) was defined as the female's ability to stay in the herd for one (ST1), two (ST2), three (ST3), four (ST4), five (ST5) or six years (ST6) after the first calving. The same trait was...

RFLP Analysis of Beta‐Lactoglobulin Gene in Swamp and Murrah Buffaloes Using a Single Restriction Enzyme

An attempt has been made to analyze the distribution of the beta-lactoglobulin genotype in swamp buffaloes and Murrah buffaloes utilizing polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism(PCR-RFLP). Blood samples were taken from 50 swamp buffaloes and 50 Murrah buffaloes. The DNA was extracted by the phenol-chloroform method. The PCR-RFLP was performed using beta-lactoglobulin ...

Estimates of genetic parameters for fat yield in Murrah buffaloes

AIM The present study was performed to investigate the effect of genetic and non-genetic factors affecting milk fat yield and to estimate genetic parameters of monthly test day fat yields (MTDFY) and lactation 305-day fat yield (L305FY) in Murrah buffaloes. MATERIALS AND METHODS The data on total of 10381 MTDFY records comprising the first four lactations of 470 Murrah buffaloes calved from 1...

Studies on DNA fingerprinting in Murrah buffaloes using microsatellite markers

For the present study, blood samples from 35 Murrah dam-progeny pairs and semen samples of their sires were collected. All six primers successfully amplified the genomic DNA from all the animals. The mean observed heterozygosity (Ho) within the population was found to be 0.5438 and it ranged from 0.375 (CSSM43) to 0.775 (CSSM61). Average expected Levene’s and Nei’s heterozygosity (Hep) were 0.6...
